POKOTABI / Ebisu Yakiniku Akami
恵比寿焼肉 あかみ
Perched on the 3th floor in Ebisu-nishi, Ebisu Yakiniku Akami pairs quick-seared rib roast and wagyu skirt with chef-cured kimchi and yukhoe rice in a tranquil dining room.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
A broad, paper-thin slice of prime rib roast briefly touched to the grill, rolled around seasoned scallions, and eaten hot captures the essential thrill of yakiniku. Set on the 3th floor of an Ebisu-nishi building, Ebisu Yakiniku Akami highlights that textural contrast with its Negishio Rib Roast, alongside playful creations like Rib-suki, where sauce-coated beef is seared swiftly and drawn through rich Tosa Jiro egg yolk to balance melt-in-the-mouth tenderness with rich marbling.
True to the restaurant's name, akami (lean beef) commands just as much attention. The chef highlights the day's best cut in the Honjitsu no Osusume Akami, while cuts like Wagyu Harami (skirt) offer a satisfying chew that pairs equally well with savory tare or wasabi salt, drawing out deep, natural beef flavors. Between cuts on the grill, a plate of house-cured kimchi prepared by the chef refreshes the palate, followed by satisfying conclusions such as the signature yukhoe rice bowl or a steaming gomtang gukbap.
An evening meal is well served by a considered beverage selection, from expressive sake such as Houou Biden Black Phoenix or crisp, bone-dry Hatsukame to wine and Hakushu or Yamazaki highballs. Operating strictly for dinner from 18:00 to 23:00, the dining room offers an unhurried, comfortable pace, making advance table reservations advisable.
